Between Nature and Legends: Discovering Mysterious Trails
The legend trails of Truden and Altrei invite you on a special journey through the mystical world of local folklore. Here, nature and storytelling merge into a unique experience, immersing you in the ancient myths of South Tyrol.
In Truden, a two-kilometer circular trail winds around the wooded hill of Forchwaldegg (1,285 m). The path begins near the Runggano Farmstead, next to a picturesque pond covered with water lilies. Along the way, wooden sculptures and information boards bring fascinating legends to life, including the tale of the "Headless Frenchmen", one of the region’s most famous stories.
The legend trail in Altrei starts at the Lärchenheim and stretches for about two kilometers through stunning larch forests, ending at the Ebnerrast sports area. The stories told along this trail were collected and passed down by local children. Artistic depictions of mythical figures line the path, guiding you through an enchanting journey into South Tyrol’s folklore.
Both trails are easy to walk and perfect for families. They offer a unique combination of breathtaking landscapes and rich cultural heritage, allowing you to experience the fascinating world of legends in an entirely new way.
