In seven days from peak to peak, from hut to hut: The Hufeisen tour runs at an almost level altitude through the horseshoe shaped Sarntal Alps.
Over seven days the route takes you through rustic, idyllic and unspoilt landscape, across stony and rocky ground, but also across Alpine pastures and through fields of dense mountain pine. Framed by Val d’Adige, Valle Isarco, Val Passiria and Val Giovo the tour offers unique panoramic views. Apart from the steep access, that can be made easier by using a hiking bus or car, the hiking trail does not present any particular technical difficulties. Good levels of fitness and careful preparation are necessary, however, as is early booking with the huts, such as Alpenrosenhof on Passo di Pennes, Rifugio Forcella Vallaga or Rifugio Corno del Renon. The huts at each of the individual sections offer ideal overnight accommodation and meals. During the warm months almost all individual sections can also be walked as day hikes or circular hikes. Some sections of the Hufeisen tour are accessible all-year round. In the snowy winter months they are suitable for snowshoe hikes or ski touring.
