Cycling in our area is a real experience! Here, the biking season lasts a little bit longer: all year round, in fact, provided it doesn’t snow - but in any case from March to October! Beautiful landscape, idyllic wine villages and dreamy hamlets in the mountains, as well as numerous trails and cycle paths that fulfil all biker’s wishes are available to you during your biking holiday in Südtirols Süden.

10 tips for safe cycling

1. Adapt your speed to your ability and the particular traffic conditions. Brake in good time.

2. Alcohol is also off-limits when cycling.

3. Walking trails and footpaths are reserved for pedestrians. Avoid dangerous short cuts and in case of doubt choose the longer, safe way.

4. Check your bike regularly and get it inspected by a specialist if necessary. Brakes, lights, weight-bearing parts, tyres and mudguards are essential for your safety.

5. Choose appropriate and comfortable clothing. This also includes a crash helmet and sunglasses.

6. Bikes are also vehicles. Be just as careful in the saddle as you would be behind the steering wheel and obey all prohibitions and requirements.

7. Use cycle paths wherever possible. By doing this, you will avoid many of the sources of danger and will have a more relaxed journey.

8. Take note of the particular visibility conditions. You should also switch on your lights in twilight and in fog.

9. Stop when you make a phone call or write a text message. The same goes for eating and drinking.

10. Anticipate the mistakes of other cyclists. Do not overtake on blind bends and, conversely, try to make it easier for others to overtake you by always riding on the righthand side.
