Caldaro is the second largest wine growing village in South Tyrol. Many inhabitants are full time farmers or winegrowers and tend their vineyards with passion. Caldaro wine is renowned worldwide and wins numerous awards every year. The wines can be tasted and enjoyed at the many wine producers, the winery cooperative and in the vinothek wine bars in the village.

Wine taverns primarily sell their own products. In Caldaro the wine taverns impress with homemade wine, South Tyrolean Marende snacks and Polenta di Caldaro. In the autumn törggeling is part of the programme in the wine taverns: According to the South Tyrolean wine museum törggeling refers to the traditional custom of gathering around the “torggl”, the wine press, when the grape picking was over and to raise a glass to the grape harvest and share a simple meal.

Strolling around the picturesque village centre, browsing in the many shops and buying the latest Italian fashion: Enjoy all this in Caldaro! From Easter to All Saint the village centre is pedestrianised: This makes mooching through the village even more fun. Enjoy the weekly Wednesday market and the Caldaro farmers market on Tuesdays (in spring and summer also on Saturdays).
