Culture Tips for Andriano
Cultural highlights in the surrounding area
The Romans already knew Andriano and built settlements there. The reason for this is likely to be its location, because from Andriano onwards the river Adige could be navigated with boats. In 2008 an extensive Roman building with under-floor heating was found during digging on the southern slope of the village. Visit the sights in Andriano.
Castel Wolfsthurn
Castel Wolfsthurn
Castel Wolfsthurn just above the village was built in the early 13th century by the Counts of Andriano. Castel Wolfsthurn fell into ruin but was renovated some 150 years ago and given a new roof. Just above the castle parts of an old wall can still be found in the undergrowth. These are likely to be the only remnants of a castle in Andriano built in the 12th century.
The ruins of Castelforte
The ruins of Castelforte
The ruins of Castelforte are situated high above in the mountain. The castle is accessible only via a steep sloping mountain trail. It is not open to visitors.

Sternbauerhof
Sternbauerhof
The Sternbauerhof is a perfectly maintained long farmhouse with external frescoes. The valley-facing frescoes from 1612 depict a four-part cycle with foot washing, the Last Supper, Mount of Olives and the Crucifixion. The fresco on the mountain-facing side of the house depicts four saints, an ornamental frame, coat of arms and an inscription dating back to 1519, all created in the style of Bressanone painter and sculptor Ruprecht Potsch.
Aquila Nera
Aquila Nera
The inn “Gasthof Sichelburg - Aquila Nera” on the village square is a former aristocratic residence that has been meticulously restored, with a canopy born by stone pillars, an outside staircase and a stone-framed front door decorated with a coat of arms from 1599.
Andriano
Andriano in the wide Val d’Adige valley is a very fertile region.
